Christmas 2005

Well, it was a combination of firsts this Christmas.
  • our first Christmas in the new house
  • Abi's first Christmas ever
  • the first Christmas dinner hosted by me (Susan)

the day started nice and early (thanks for that Abi) so by 7am we had opened most of our presents, and Abi was just sitting down to have a show on the webcam with Val and Nan in England. It was so cute to watch her looking to the television every time Val spoke, and looking around for the dogs when Patch and Sam started barking on the UK end. Abi seemed impressed with her presents (but then again, she is only 7.5 months old) and she has been playing with them non-stop ever since.

Once we got the house cleaned up from the morning present un-wrapping session, the family started arriving, and it all started over again. It was great to see Edward, Hannah and Abi all playing together (well, sitting in the same room playing with their own toys). Edward was very happy with his lawnmower, Hannah loved her tu-tu, and Abi was just happy to be awake most of the day. We even managed to get some photos of Grandma with the three great-grandchildren, and there were only a few tears from the children. Lunch was great, and it was nice to have a Christmas with less than 10 people.

The family left late in the afternoon, and the neighbours came around for a few more drinks and some nibbles before our first Christmas was over.
